Hosted by founders Danielle Fairbairn-Bland and Keanna Hinds, Children’s Kwanzaa Village successfully held its fifth annual celebration in observance of Kwanzaa in our community on Wednesday December 29, 2021.
The aim of this event is to educate and entertain children about Kwanzaa, connect parents with resources, and honor our elders and ancestors in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
At this year’s virtual event, we gathered together to talk about different ways we incorporate wellness into our daily lives, and learn new ways of maintaining wellness for our selves and within our community.
Over the course of the evening, everyone participated in interactive exercises that incorporated breathing exercises, movement, storytelling, some smoothie prep, and lots of thoughtful discussion about self-care, mindfulness, the importance of hand washing, and powerful affirmations .
At the end of the evening, some of our little ones reaped the rewards of their spirited participation with gifts they earned from CKV supporters.
Because this year’s event was virtual, we were able to have our participants pre-record their presentations, which we’re happy to share with you so you can enjoy on-demand. Enjoy!
